6LoWPAN Network and Protocol Analysis
The lately
defined
6LoWPAN
is becoming an appealing alternative for sensor networks communication by combining the many benefits
of IP based applications and protocols with the low power and communication link efficiency
which are mandatory for such networks.
While there are many tools in the market for analyzing wired IP as well as WiFi
networks, none of these tools support 6LoWPAN with its unique RF and MAC layers.
Researches, developers and system integrators looking to design and implement
6LoWPAN sensor networks are lacking a professional analysis tool.
The Perytons 6LoWPAN protocol analyzer (also referred in the market as 6LoWPAN
sniffer) is an indispensable tool for development, integration, installation,
monitoring, and troubleshooting of 6LoWPAN systems, networks and products.
Perytons analyzers combine full coverage of the 2.4Ghz and Sub Ghz bands with a rich and
user-friendly analysis toolbox. The Perytons analyzer allows full analysis of
the communication layer, identifying network topology, time related
transactions, message structure and more. The resulting IP messages constructed
by the analyzer can be then easily exported and ready for external standard IP
analysis tools such as WireShark.
Perytons' keeps following the 6LoWPAN standardization efforts so that
newly defined features and layers get quickly implemented into the analyzer, letting
the users being up to date with the latest standard features.
The Perytons 6LoWPAN sniffer is fully compatible with the other Perytons models,
allowing using the same tool for analyzing other 802.15.4 based protocols such
as ZigBee. It also allows the user to build his own layers on top of the 6LoWPAN
into the analyzer environment, thus creating a customized analysis tool that
includes the user preferences and customization into the analysis platform of
the company.

Multi-channel networks analysis |
 |
|
The
802.15.4 PHY defines 16 possible communication channels in the 2.4Ghz ISM band.
Perytons analyzers capture multiple channels simultaneously, enabling the
analysis of multiple networks operating
in the same environment.[read

Reliability |
| The Perytons analyzers are unique in the
use of antenna diversity techniques, providing superior reliability through
reducing the number packets lost due to RF indoor multi-path propagation
conditions, and reducing interference from up to 15% to less than 0.1%.

Big picture perspective
|
 |
|
A
unique Time View provides a two-dimensional message chart over time for an
intuitive overview of processes and transactions taking place across the
network. The vertical axis displays messages by channel, device ID, or PAN ID,
making it much easier and faster to recognize and understand processes and
transactions.[read

For Network Layer analysis, Perytons offers an easy-to-understand network view
displaying different devices, their type, the relations between them, and mesh
communication routes. |
Ease of use
|
 |
|
| Rich graphical interface
requiring minimal text input provides an intuitive user experience with minimal
training and a short learning curve. Perytons analyzers display the “meaning
behind the bits” with informative screen tips explaining the field and its
current value as defined by the relevant standard. |
Ease of sharing |
| The Perytons analyzers allow the
user to save full analyzer states as a workspace file to share configurations
and scenarios of interest colleagues, vendors, or the back office. |
Flexibility
|
 |
|
With the Open Source Rules the user can enhance capabilities
of the analyzer in different dimensions like monitoring of live-networks; change the look and feel of the existing views
(time, message, network,
etc.), definition of customizable statistic charts, interconnection to external
applications through numerous communication ports and protocols, e-mail, etc.,
and more.

Sophistication
|
 |
|
| A sophisticated, feature-rich
toolbox helps identify and analyze problematic scenarios, using charts that
summarize properties of captured data, flexible data export tools, and various
detailed search tools for identifying messages by the value or appearance of a
field or hierarchy of fields. Messages can also be compared with one another for
detailed analysis or sorted by a variety of indexes. |
Add your own protocol
|
|
 |
|
Perytons analyzers allow the user to add his
own application or protocol running over any of the existing protocol layers,
enhancing productivity and gaining a valuable marketing and support tool,
completely customized for user unique needs.
